New Works
At K.22 we are passionate in creating and developing new works.
Our first project came in 1998 with “Go and Play Up Your Own End,” written by Brummy comic Malcolm Stent. This was a musical comedy set in Birmingham during 40’s and 50’s and adapted from his book of the same title. The show was produced at Solihull Arts Complex to capacity audiences and standing ovations. The show quickly transferred to the Birmingham Hippodrome the following year starring legendary comic Don Maclean. Again the show sold out and the cast faced more standing ovations. The success of Go and Play Up Your Own End made its way to the Birmingham Rep Theatre for its finale run as a K.22 production.
“Go and play” won the hearts of the audience and a standing ovation."

“Go and Play Further Up Your Own End…the sequel,” again written by Malcolm Stent and produced at Solihull Arts Complex in 1999 was received with great reviews. So to was "Balfour," written by K.22’s Steve Kray and starring Sony award winner, former radio WM presenter Malcolm Boyden.
"Katch 22's “Balfour” is a story that will enthral entertain, and gives its audience an evening of roller coaster emotions. It’s a cracker."

From plays we moved onto short story’s. Titch the Witch written by Dublin writer Francis O’Reilly was adapted for the stage by Steve Kray and performed for Touchwood’s spooky storytelling week during Halloween 2007 and for Walsall Illuminations 2009.
At the moment we are developing a brand new production co-written by Steve Kray and Ellis Creez featuring original songs and lyrics from Laurie Hornsby.
